Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A (13-inch) – Windows version of MacBook Air

Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A is a direct competitor to the Apple MacBook Air. The two laptops lock horns in terms of price, performance, design and purpose. NP900X3A has everything that you loved about the MacBook Air and this 13 inch laptops has exception design with a geek appeal to it. The price of this product is $1,649 and I doubt if you can really afford it. The weight is about 2.9 pounds with a 1.4 GHz second generation Intel Core i5 processor. Apart from that, the notebook has four gigs of RAM, and 128 GB SSD.

The performance is really good and it feels great to work on. It isn’t too slow either but the price is a bit high. Air starts at $1,299 for the 13 inch version with half the amount of RAM and 128 GB SSD. The $1,649 model that I got in my labs for review is the low end version. There is a step up $1,699 model which comes along with Windows 7 Professional and it is the best configuration I have ever seen.

I have seen a lot of laptops which are high end and heavy on design but it has been a while since then. Dell Adamo and the Adamo XPS are the two laptops that spring in my mind but the Series 9 laptop that I have here is better than those but I wish Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A was a bit less expensive.

$1,649 is certainly too much for a laptop and the only good thing is that the manufacturer is giving a three years warranty with the product. Fashion enthusiasts will certainly be delighted though, they finally have a Windows version of the Mac Book Air. If price is not an issue and if you love flaunting your gadgets around, Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A is heavily recommended.

The look of this notebook is certainly eye catching. There is sleek brushed back metal called duralumin which is also used in construction of aircrafts. There are curved edges on the back and the laptop is as thin as a blade. It is really light too and in the hand, the Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A feels lighter than what you’d expect. The weight is the same as MacBook Air at 2.9 pounds. Samsung’s laptop is a bit thicker though and it feels thicker in the hand too. That said, these are just minor design issues and certainly not a deal breaker.
