LG 3D Xnote A530 – Introduced In Korea

thumbnail
The world is going 3D. At least that is what the constantly increasing number of 3D gadgets entering the market suggests, and seeing at the technologies used in all those gadgets, we would say that, 3D actually has came a long way since the time of wearing gigantic and heavy 3D goggles. As a matter of fact 3D format has crossed that barrier of compulsion to wear those heavy glasses. The latest edition in the list of those potent gadgets is the LG Xnote A530. The LG 3D Xnote A530 recently has been released in Korea, but soon will be launched in Europe and Middle East, and subsequently in US market. Looking at the LG 3D Xnote A530 it becomes obvious that despite the disadvantage of wearing heavy glasses it looks as if LG along with many other makers sees potential here, and the simple reason for this being the fact that gaming and watching movie becomes really fun with 3D. As per the Executive VP and Head of LG Electronics PC Business Unit, J.J. Lee; “Now that  [...]

Archos 70 (8GB) – Low priced tablet

thumbnail
Archos 70 has a seven inch capacitive touch screen and it does have some qualities in its favor. The LCD has a resolution of 800x480 pixels and photos and movies look great on it. The details are crisp with well balanced color. Viewing angles aren’t really great but they are not that bad either. I have seen some worse LCDs than this. The manufacturer should have used matte finish on this display for resisting the smudges and the glare. But then for a low price of $270, it is pretty acceptable. For the software, the Archos 70 is an Android 2.2 gadget and it doesn’t have any of the Google’s proprietary apps like Maps, Gmail and Android Marketplace. You do get stock Android 2.2 Web browser and e-mail app with the Archos’ remixed versions of Android photo viewer and music and video player. The manufacturer is offering AppsLib which is an app store and it isn’t the best I have ever seen. Going inside made me think that I was in a flea market.  [...]

Archos 101 – Great competitor to the iPad

thumbnail
Archos 101 is a ten inch Android tablet that is one of the many, many tablet PCs coming out for 2010. It is light, thin and priced very affordably at $299 for the eight gigabyte model and $399 for the 16 gigabyte model. This is the first time that I have seen a very decent presentation of Android 2.2 on a big, iPad sized screen. However, this device might have arrived at a terrible time because there are lots of ten inch tablets coming in to the market and they are all running on the latest Android 3.0 or Honeycomb OS. Archos 101 hasn’t made any promises of updating to the latest and greatest OS for Google. This is a bummer since the latest Android version is optimized for tablet PCs. I would still recommend this device to anyone looking for an iPad alternative. Unlike a lot of Android tablets that I have had in my labs, Archos 101 actually looks good next to the iPad. It is sized comparably at ten and half inches wide, six inches high and 0.33 inch  [...]

Motorola Xoom – Faster than iPad 2

thumbnail
Motorola Xoom is a tablet that can easily make life tough for the Apple iPad 2. It has a 10.1 inch touch screen, rear and front cameras, HDMI port, and tablet optimized Android OS. All this will certainly create a lot of buzz around the tablet world. The cost of this gadget is $800 without a contract and $600 if you sign a two year service agreement from Verizon. Motorola is using the same approach that it used for its Droid smartphones which were a big hit. The horsepower and versatile capabilities of Motorola Xoom make it far better than Apple iPad. The star cast of Motorola Xoom includes maxed out RAM, expansion slots, multimegapixel cameras, and dual core processor. All this accompanied by Android’s Honeycomb OS gives you the most talked about tablet in 2011. The display is bigger than that of the Apple iPad but technically speaking, it is a bit smaller. The device carries its weight on the hips and stretches the screen area for wide screen display  [...]

Philips Notebook SoundBar SPA5210B/27 – Better quality than laptop speakers

thumbnail
For people who travel frequently, there are plenty of external speakers to choose from if you yearn for a better audio quality than the standard laptop speakers,. One of them is Altec’s Orbit speaker but most of them are a bit bulky and hence they are not easy to carry around. Philips Notebook SoundBar SPA5210B/27 that I got in my labs for review is a bit different from most of the crowd out there. It is a sound bar styled speaker which clips on the notebook’s screen and you can also place it on the table. There is a clip on mechanism along with along with a hand screw on the back which tightens the fit on the laptop and Netbook screens. I also liked the fact that the cable wraps easily around the speaker so there is minimal cable clutter while carrying it around. The USB cable is about 20 inches long and it will easily reach the USB port of any computer when you clip it on the screen. Philips Notebook SoundBar SPA5210B/27 comes with a carrying pouch and the device  [...]

MSI Wind U160-007US – Superb battery life

thumbnail
MSI Wind U160-007US is an entry level Netbook which is based on the standard simple formula – Intel Atom 450 processor, Windows 7 Starter, 1 GB RAM, and 250 GB hard disk. This formula is followed by wide range of Netbook players like HP, Acer, Asus, and others. MSI was one of the early entrants in the Netbook market and its Wind products have been driving down the same lane as its competitors which make them good alternatives in the Netbook market.

MSI Wind U160-007US is a bit better than crowd in a lot of ways. To start with, the battery life is really impressive. You don’t get a seven hour backup battery for Netbook everyday in your labs. Secondly, this computer was a tad faster than other Netbooks which we have seen. You might not realize the small difference but it does exist. We will recommend you this Netbook if you are looking for big battery life. MSI Wind U160-007US may have a big battery life but you have to pay a premium for it. The  [...]

Origin EON18 – Gaming beast

thumbnail
Gaming laptop market is growing fast and there are now varieties which we have never seen before. Voodoo and Alienware, which were ones considered luxury products have bought lots of changes in computer gaming. Origin’s gaming notebooks are focused mostly on boutique angle. They give their laptops a personalized touch, along with better customer service and also a wide range of hardware options. Origin is a new company and the staff is mostly made up of ex-Alienware employees.  There are two models in this laptop, EON18 and EON15. Both offer tons of options for processor and graphics cards. The chassis is made by Clevo, it is outsourced and makes generic bodies. We have reviewed Malibal Veda last year and that too had a chassis made by Clevo. If you want a reason to buy this laptop, it has to be because there are lots of options for hardware which lets you make this notebook a gaming beast. This is not the only notebook in the market to offer such customization but we will give  [...]

Fujitsu LifeBook MH380 – Overdesigned and overpriced

thumbnail
Last time Fujitsu attempted a Netbook, it was the M2010 and we didn’t it much. The manufacturer labeled it as an educational product and had priced it higher than a standard Netbook. It wasn’t anything more than a regular Netbook in terms of being ‘educational’ so we didn’t approve of the high price. It is been a while since then and now we have Fujitsu LifeBook MH380. A lot of changes have been made in terms of design and this is an aesthetically appealing product. It has got a funky touch pad and interesting curves which makes this Netbook sexy looking. However, some might think it is overdesign and if that doesn’t turn you off, the bulky battery surely will. Netbooks are characterized by its slim body and the MH380 is far away from it.

Fujitsu LifeBook MH380 is priced at $449 and the cost is same as its predecessor. You get a bigger hard drive, screen resolution has been increased and it has an Atom  [...]

Hannspree Hannsnote – with matte screen

thumbnail
Netbooks are characterized by small size and lack of high end hardware. The main idea is to keep the device small even if it means compromising on hardware. Such computers have hit a wall and all the manufactures are putting the same set of predefined hardware components in their Netbooks. Almost all Netbooks come with 1.6 GHz N270 Atom processor, Windows XP, a gig of RAM and 160 GB hard disk. The efforts are being made to improve the battery life and the prices too are dropping. Vendors meanwhile have turned their attention to the looks in order to make their product stand out among the crowd. Apart from Apple, every laptop manufacture has joined the Netbook bandwagon and Hannspree is the latest to do so. Chances are that you haven’t heard of the manufacturer (and we don’t blame you if you haven’t) but they make novelty TVs. The looks are not that good; Hannspree Hannsnote has a simple black generic design. The cost of this Netbook is $379 and we were impressed by what the  [...]
